We also have George from Cherry Gardens Garden Club sharing his summer garden advice. Then to finish off we’ve got over 50 events happening across the region to keep you busy.

Anya Anastasia live performance
Adelaide Hills musician Anya Anastasia has never been the kind of artist who colours inside the lines. Her music lives in that thrilling, jagged space where art-rock collides with experimental folk and indie-rock, sharpened by global influences that give her sound its unmistakable edge. She’s a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who builds songs like living organisms, cinematic, restless and wired with intent.
Her new single, 'Two Halves', dropping this week, draws on an urgent desire to shed the filters of adulthood and re-kindle the awe, wonder and emotional connection with the natural world that we all experience as children.

She describes the recording process as “climbing a mountain without a peak,” an endless and exhilarating push toward a sound she can feel before she can name. Every texture is deliberate. Every choice is bold. It is the mark of an artist who trusts her instincts and embraces the long road.

If Anya looks familiar beyond the stage, you might recognise her as co-director of Hills Folk Music, an organisation that programs and hosts live music events, primarily featuring singer-songwriters performing original material.. She’s also the driving force behind the Stirling Laneway Markets, proving she is as committed to community as she is to her craft.
SUMMER GARDEN TIPS
Gardening Wisdom from George
Summer in the Hills always brings that mix of anticipation and gentle pressure to get things right. The soil warms, the tomatoes start to climb, and suddenly the whole garden feels alive. George from the Cherry Gardens Garden Club understands this season well and wanted to share a few tips that he promises will help your garden thrive.
He often starts with the simplest tool of all. Trickle or drip irrigation offers water exactly where it is needed, and when it is paired with a generous layer of mulch, summer vegetables stay cool and content. It feels almost meditative to watch the slow feed of water disappear into the soil, knowing it is reaching the roots without waste.
Potted plants get their own kind of care. George suggests grouping them together so they keep one another cool and are easier to water. It is a small adjustment that changes everything. Suddenly the pots feel like a tiny community, sheltering each other from the heat.
And then there are the fruit trees. George emphasised that well-watered fruit trees give back in flavour, and you can taste the difference. As their summer crops swell and sweeten, they rely on steady moisture.
George is one of the volunteers behind the Adelaide Hills Garden Affair, a biannual event returning 3 May 2026. It’s a chance to pick up more of this practical, generous wisdom and connect with gardeners who love gardening as much as you do. Mt Barker Waldorf School Spring Fair was one of the events which was unfortunately affected by weather predictions of rain and lightning a few weeks ago and had to cancel the fair. So instead, they’re holding an expanded Twilight Market on Friday 21st November. There will be food, craft and market stalls, a sourdough baking competition, the Anonymous Art Show and silent auction, music and a second-hand clothes stall. It runs from 3:30pm - 8pm.
