Good morning, Hills lovers. Firstly, I want to say WOW! Last week, with your quick thumbs booking tickets to the Timlin’s Green gig at the Three Brothers Arms in Macclesfield! You sold them out within an hour! What a warm welcome for their first gig in the Adelaide Hills, I think it’s pretty safe to say we’re ready for it. I can’t wait; it’s going to be so fun! For those who missed out, there are plans for more gigs next year…

This week in the Pantry we’ve got a bit of everything: a puzzle update for those chasing a unique Christmas gift, a sweet little strawberry-filled Saturday in Macclesfield, and a walk through Battunga Country that’s all kinds of peaceful. Let’s get into it.

Let’s get into it.

JIGSAW PUZZLE UPDATE
A Unique Christmas Gift Awaits.

These gorgeous jigsaw puzzles have been a huge hit! I have had a few people asking if they’re still available, which is awesome. I have limited stock available but once they’re gone they’re gone. If you’re looking for a Christmas gift that feels like the Adelaide Hills wrapped up in a box. Painted by local artist Tess Bartholomew.

Just this week I’ve heard from a few people who are gifting them to their children’s teachers at the end of the school year, which I absolutely love. Purchase Puzzles HereLocal pick-up or delivery available at checkout.

“The attention to detail is fantastic. Especially love the zip up bag.” - Doug

“I’m addicted to the puzzle! I can’t stop at once piece. Better than scrolling though!” - Amy

“The puzzle is gorgeous Steph & Tess!” - Christine

“I bought it for my son who lives in Newcastle. He’s going to love it!” - John

“The puzzle is Fantastic Steph! It’s going to be my mums Christmas present!” - Jemma

SWEET DAYS AHEAD
Macclesfield’s Strawberry Fete Returns

If you love strawberries, this one’s for you. On November 30, the little town of Macclesfield will burst to life for its annual Strawberry Fete, a tradition that’s been bringing locals together since 1947. The excitement’s already building, and with good reason.

Families spill onto the lawns with picnic rugs while volunteers in red aprons dish out bowls of strawberries and cream. Kids race between games with sticky fingers, and the grown-ups find their way to the wine tastings and local gin bar. There’s something beautifully unhurried about it all, a kind of shared joy that only small towns seem to manage. The band Acoustic Juice will be playing this year, adding a sunny soundtrack to an already feel-good afternoon.

It’s free to attend, with plenty of parking and an easy going, everyone’s-invited kind of spirit. If you needed an excuse to take a slow Saturday drive through the Hills, this is it, sweet, simple, and full of heart. For more information, click here.

TRAILS THROUGH TIME
Walking the Heart of Battunga Country

There’s a kind of peace that only comes from walking where stories overlap. In Battunga Country, the trails wind through more than scenery, they move through layers of time, memory and care. Long before gravel roads or signposted loops, these ridgelines were travelled by the Peramangk and Kaurna peoples, whose deep knowledge of the land shaped every path, every crossing, every resting place.

One of my favourite ways to do just that is the Bugle Ranges Loop, a 10-kilometre walk that starts at the junction of Yates Lane and Penna Road, just outside Macclesfield. The road climbs gently through the Bugle Ranges, dipping between stands of gum and open views that seem to go on forever. Most days, you’ll pass more birds than cars.

That’s the charm of the Battunga Country Trails. These are trails built for wandering, for listening to the magpies, for noticing how light falls across old gum trees, for walking gently across Country that has been cared for thousands of years.
